David Varela is a Strategic Marketing Advisor based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with deep roots in El Centro, California. Born and raised in a small border community in the Imperial Valley as the youngest of five of immigrant parents, David quickly fell in love with art and design through graffiti, skateboard graphics, and record albums.
In 2012, David founded the Starts with Arts Foundation, an arts education non-profit organization that supports at-risk and low-income families and studies to have an equal opportunity at arts-related education. David has over 20 years of experience as a graphic designer, creative director, storyteller, and marketing director, and is most passionate about his work with education, youth, community, and immigration.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me: At a local art show or concert, or at home working on an art project and spending time with my wife, kids, and bulldog.
