Ambar Januel López

CEO & Founder

Ambar is a queer Mexican American strategist and creative focused on utilizing community power to advance social justice issues. Ambar is passionate about creative storytelling and empowering leaders and organizations to build powerful brands and campaigns. 

Ambar has over twelve years of experience working in design and marketing. She began her first consulting firm ten years ago, where they developed creative marketing campaigns for startups in Los Angeles. During this work, she became dedicated to social justice and consulting for nonprofits. In 2018, Ambar launched Neta to build a space for similar-minded team members with social justice, electoral, creative, and marketing expertise dedicated to providing organizations with capacity and resources. 

Ambar is proud to be an art school dropout who has dedicated her career to continuous learning and advancing her professional expertise. In 2023, Ambar completed the LBAN at Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative - Education: Scaling Up Your Venture. Ambar is a 2023 Tory Burch Foundation Entrepreneur, a 2024 Aspen Ideas Festival Fellow, and a Luminary x Clover 2024 Fellow.

Amairani Perez Chamu

Storyteller & Media Strategist

Amairani is a media specialist, content creator, and multidisciplinary artist based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, working to advocate for the advancement of BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, and Latinx communities. She was born in Acapulco, Mexico and has over 7+ years of experience working in the immigrant rights movement, the film industry, and digital marketing and creation. 

She is a skilled media strategist, storyteller, and copywriter who has led numerous social justice campaigns to ensure the rights of the immigrant community in Oklahoma and across the nation. Her network, leadership, and relationships with people and media have allowed her to elevate the voices of the undocumented and marginalized. She leads with creativity, innovation, and advocates for the inclusion of all communities in the liberation movement.

✨ When I’m not working, you’ll find me: Writing radical poetry, hanging out with my cats and dog, and visiting national parks with a Red Bull in my hand.

Aida Alejandra López

Spanish-Language Writer & Translator

Aida López is a creative artist, educator, and translator based in Southern California. She has over 30 years of experience as a multi-disciplinary art and Spanish teacher, and over 8 years as a Spanish-language translator. She is passionate about creating culturally competent content for various Latino communities and utilizing visual storytelling and strategic outreach. 

Aida also recently passed her real estate test. She is proud to work alongside her daughters at Neta, and to uplift the important work of our partners.

✨ When I’m not working, you’ll find me: Painting, spending time with my children and grandkids, traveling, and by the ocean.

Alexis Woody

Director of Business Development and Marketing

Alexis Woody is a digital marketer based in Columbus, Ohio. She has 7 years of experience working with companies in industries ranging from building trades to hospitality and non-profits. She holds expertise in public relations, influencer and social media marketing, and business development. She is passionate about migration reform and children’s rights, and believes in the power of people-centered storytelling.

David Varela

Strategic Marketing Advisor

David Varela is a Strategic Marketing Advisor based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with deep roots in El Centro, California. Born and raised in a small border community in the Imperial Valley as the youngest of five of immigrant parents, David quickly fell in love with art and design through graffiti, skateboard graphics, and record albums. In 2012, David founded the Starts with Arts Foundation, an arts education non-profit organization that supports at-risk and low-income families and studies to have an equal opportunity at arts-related education. David has over 20 years of experience as a graphic designer, creative director, storyteller, and marketing director, and is most passionate about his work with education, youth, community, and immigration.

✨ When I’m not working, you’ll find me: At a local art show or concert, or at home working on an art project and spending time with my wife, kids, and bulldog.

Erin Choi

Operations Manager & Storyteller

Erin Choi is a process-driven storyteller based in so-called Phoenix, with 8 years of digital marketing and operations experience. They are a detail-oriented operations enthusiast who loves finding new and innovative ways to share organizations’ stories. They love wearing many different hats, and growing their creativity through community-based storytelling. As a second-generation Korean diasporic person, Erin deeply believes in the power of intergenerational work and knowledge sharing as a form of community building across diasporas.

Krystal Vaquerano is a Brooklyn-based Creative and Design Director with over 7 years of experience specializing in brand identity, graphic design, and art direction for both established brands and start-ups. As the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Somebody, a wellness brand offering consumer packaged goods focused on skincare, pain relief, and dietary health, Krystal blends her creative expertise with her passion for advocacy. Her first-generation upbringing drives her commitment to bridging gaps in representation for Latinx and BIPOC communities. Krystal is dedicated to showcasing how these communities are integral to the future—particularly in the areas of climate change, intersectionality, and the healing of generational patterns.

✨ When I’m not working, you’ll find me: I enjoy traveling, spending time in nature, working on my apartment’s interior design, and learning about ways to improve both my mind and body.

Julia Sorrenti

Brand Manager

Julia Sorrenti is a graphic designer from Florida, with a passion for using design as a tool to help amplify stories and create positive ongoing social change. She believes in the power of design as a form of storytelling, and specializes in helping organizations create a brand story that is meaningful, purpose-driven, and emotive. With several years experience in the marketing and design space, Julia strives to create meaningful solutions and powerful messaging for social justice organizations.

Máxima Guerrero

Digital Advocacy Manager

Máxima Guerrero was born in Morelos, MX, and is based on occupied O’odham territory (Phoenix, AZ). For over a decade, Máxima has organized and led social justice campaigns and advocacy on the issues of migration and crimmigration, with a focus on the intersection of the immigration and criminal justice systems. With experience advocating for the passage of the DREAM Act, ousting infamous politicians out of office in Arizona, and leading a successful campaign against the school to prison pipeline, Máxima prioritizes her advocacy and power of narrative to create a world of liberation and human rights for all people.

Premimathieu "Premi" Sterlin

Visual Storyteller

Premimathieu Sterlin is a visual composer based in Hollywood, Florida. He has 10 years of experience in graphic design, photography, videography, and music production. His career in social justice work started with an organization called Probation Station. Since then, he has worked with other organizations including Florida Rising and Florida 4 All to advocate for social justice work in Florida through graphic design, social media management and engagement, and promotional materials, including flyers, cards, etc. Furthermore, Premi is passionate about neighborhood history, women’s rights, and local and community programs for kids.

✨ When I’m not working, you’ll find me: Playing video games, traveling with my wife and daughter, and practicing amateur kickboxing.

Randy Palacios

Narrative & Marketing Manager

Randy Palacios is a marketer, writer, and learner. Randy is passionate about using curiosity, writing, and storytelling to connect people, society, and culture. Over the last six years, he has dedicated his professional career to making a difference in progressive social movements for BIPOC and Latinx communities. He loves developing a brand voice for nonprofit organizations and telling stories with social impact. His superpower is sitting at a desk for endless hours writing, learning, and asking questions about life that don’t make sense.

✨ When I’m not working, you’ll find me: Practicing Mixed Martial Arts, going for a walk with my dog, Spending quality time with my partner.

Rose Charles

Marketing Strategist

Rose Charles is an experienced creative communications professional based in Miramar, FL, who is passionate about amplifying voices for social justice and equity. She has five years of experience in communications, marketing, and non-profit. Rose's work is deeply personal, driven by a desire to uplift marginalized communities. Her passion for storytelling, crafting multicultural and campaign strategies for BIPOC communities, and writing is a testament to her commitment. As an immigrant, Rose's work is a reflection of her own journey, particularly in her efforts to bridge the gap between the Latinx and Haitian communities. Her advocacy for climate justice further underscores her dedication to marginalized communities.

✨ When I’m not working, you’ll find me: Outside of work, I love to read, and I have a book page where I share my current reads and recommendations by Black authors @left.onreadbookclub. I also love to cook and try out new recipes, and I love to spend time with my friends, family, husband, and newly adopted cat, Simba.

Shei Mendoza

People Business Partner & Advisor

Born in the vibrant heart of Mexico, and nurtured amidst the mountains of Vermont, Shei has cultivated a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and perspectives. Driven by her passion for multicultural communication and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), she launched her career by recruiting patients from underserved communities for wellness and oncology programs, guiding them through the healthcare system. Over the last ten years, Shei has advanced her expertise in Life Sciences, gaining experience in talent acquisition, global partnership development, employment law, policies/procedures, system implementation, and compensation.

✨ When I’m not working, you’ll find me: Spending time with family, planning my next DIY project, drawing, listening to Audiobooks or hanging out at the beach. Having recently obtained my Scuba Diving certification alongside my family, I am excited to take this on as a hobby in the near future.

Stacey Lo

Creative Manager

Stacey Lo is a multidisciplinary creative designer based in California. With over eight years of experience, she focuses her creative energy on purpose-driven visual communication, including graphic design, print/digital design and illustration, web design, and multimedia experimentation. She is passionate about collaborating with creatives and non-profit organizations and helping kickstart creative projects and social impact campaigns by creating strong visual narratives in their communities. She loves a good challenge, enjoys being a continuous learner, and has a passion for helping others bring brilliant ideas to life.

Tasha Hussey

Website Developer

Tasha Hussey is an educator, technical consultant, and web developer. She has an M.S. in Computer Information Systems and more than 24 years experience in higher education at local community colleges in Texas. Having spent more than half those years teaching others everything from keyboarding to Java, her passion for education extends far beyond the classroom. She also mentors women who are just breaking into tech with hands-on experience in real-world projects. She’s excited to be part of the Neta team and is looking forward to sharing more of her tech nerdiness with the world.

Gretchen George

Ads Manager

Gretchen is a passionate paid ads strategist based in Baltimore, MD. She has over a decade of experience specializing in social media marketing, media buying, and paid advertising. Gretchen’s journey in digital marketing began with her desire to help empower small businesses and entrepreneurs to utilize paid advertising to help their business grow and thrive. Gretchen is also deeply committed to community work, particularly in supporting marginalized communities and advocating for greater diversity in the business world. She’s passionate about creating spaces for those communities to thrive in business and using digital marketing as a tool for social impact.

Yazmin Guzman

Data Associate

Yazmin Guzman is a data strategist based in Wichita, Kansas. In her work at Neta, she tracks ads, manages social media accounts, and interprets clients’ social media analytics. She is passionate about empowering communities and using data and technology to tell effective community-driven stories.
